FUTURE MEMBERS

WHO CAN JOIN?

Applicants to Mortar Board must be juniors (who will be seniors by their year of membership) in the top 35% of the class that have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to service. Third-year seniors may also apply and serve two years in Mortar Board.

Members are required to attend meetings and perform a certain number of service projects and fundraisers each semester.

WHAT'S THE PROCESS?

The current members of Mortar Board invite all juniors to apply to be part of Mortar Board for the following year. Once invited, students must complete and submit the application to Mortar Board before the deadline. Once all of the applications have been received, current Mortar Board members will meet to discuss the qualifications of each applicant. Current members then hold several rounds of voting to select the new Mortar Board class. Once selected, new members will be notified through the tapping process. After tapping, the students will then attend an induction ceremony in which they will receive a certificate, pin, and become active members of Mortar Board.
